Trashpicked briggs 5hp, cold start

Has some carburetor issues, seems to flood over at idle when warm even though it runs very lean. All carb gaskets and diapfragms has been replaced. 5Hp 1975 briggs When I first found the engine the carb and tank vere missing, but found them nearby. All screws for those were missing, and to attach the tank to the carb I had to find some screws. However european size and US size differ (inches vs millimeters). I actually tried to buy some used ones, but could not wait. So I resized the holes in the tank to fit standard M5 screw. Finally they were connected. The carb was in really poor condition when I found it, allso the tank with lots of rust. It allmost looked like the tank had been filled with paint, every thing had this nasty smell and nothing moved. After it was cleaned with water and dishwashing soap it got better, but still has an issue,

I ordered a Briggs & Stratton 342 cc engine with 6:1 gear reduction drive with a 1 inch drive shaft.What I got was just a plain B & S 342 cc engine with a 3/4 inch drive shaft. Nice engine, but it would not work on the piece of equipment it was ordered for. I bought a new Honda engine equipped as ordered from another company at nearly the same price as the B & S engine. The Honda engine bolted right up to the concrete mixer and we were able to go back to work. If you buy engines from Amazon.com all I can say is "Buyer Beware". Amazon would not take the brand new B&S engine back but ... Installation was a snap but I had to go buy a battery. The literature said the unit came with a battery. The only battery that will work comes from Interstate Batteries at a cost of $149.
